My Updated Hair Routine

Softer, Shinier Hair w/ 3 Essential Products!

Hello hairoholics,

I know I haven't been posting lately and I apologize to all of my readers. I will have a skin post up very soon as well. Anyways, here is my long overdue hair routine. My techniques have all remained the same, I do not brush my wet hair (I use a wide toothed comb) or take any prenatal pills because I believe pills do not increase your hair growth. Caring for my hair is rather hard at times because my hair is somewhat damaged from my highlighting jobs. Now I must wait at least a year before I do any highlights or root touch-ups so that my hair grows out a bit and regains it's strength and natural sheen.

Shampoo

My shampoo is from the Organix brand which I've found works best on my specific hair texture. Since moisture is the biggest factor for my hair of late, I have been using their Argan Crème line. It manages to leave my hair shinier and softer without excess weight. The smell is FANTASTIC as well!

Conditioner

Conditioner is a must for me. I never skip conditioner. Never ever. Bringing moisture back into my hair is my primary concern as mentioned before. Keep in mind that a conditioner can never repair your hair, no matter what the bottle promises, but it does deposit a good amount of moisture and shine. My conditioner is compatible with my shampoo and smells fantastic. My hair has never looked better than it does when I use this conditioner.

Mask/Treatment

Usually for treatments I stick to my argan oil or almond oil, but the oiling is a different type of treatment. A special rinse out mask is a staple in my routine, and surprisingly it is from L'Oreal.
The Ever Crème line from L'Oreal is sulphate free and contains Omega 3's and 6's. It also has Camelina extract for optimum moisture. I find that this mask makes my hair look great. The way I use it is simple, after shampooing and conditioning I take around 2-3 tbsp. since my hair is long, and I massage it into my scalp and smooth it down the length of my hair. I gently comb through my hair with a wide toothed comb to distribute the mask down to the ends. Then I twist my hair into a low bun and wait for 7-10 minutes for super shiny and soft hair. During this time you can shave or do whatever in the shower while the steam from the shower helps the mask penetrate into each individual hair strand.

L'Oreal EverCrème Sulfate-Free Moisture System Deep Nourishing Masque ($6.99 CA)

Thanks so much for viewing my blog and taking time to read my posts, it means a lot to me! If you could share my blog with others and spread the word, I would really appreciate it. Remember to leave a comment below if you have any questions or compliments!

Mommy Tips: Baby Healthy Hair Care

Taking Care of Baby's Delicate Hair, Naturally!

Hello hairoholics!

Today I am discussing how to properly care for a baby's hair. I am super excited to share my knowledge on this particular subject because of all the research I have done and tips I have learned. If you want to give your baby soft, shiny, beautiful hair in 3 easy steps continue...

*All tips and opinions are my own, I am not affiliated with any brand nor have I been paid by Live Clean. *
\\

Baby Shampoo, Conditioner, Detangler & Oil

(Basic Hair Care for All Ethnicities & Hair Types)

Shampooing a baby's hair should be done with gentle care, and keep in mind that it shouldn't be done frequently since a baby's scalp is sensitive and can be dried out if the natural oils are constantly being washed out with shampoo. Conditioner is the second step and should be applied to the scalp and massaged in followed by a rinse with warm water. Detangler is optional. I know people that constantly battle with their baby's hair because it is growing fast and getting tangled. Detangler is more for long hair. Oil however should be used on a baby's scalp weekly. Be sure to check your baby for allergies before trying any oil. Doing a patch test is appropriate. If your baby responds well to a specific oil like organic coconut oil, massage their scalp with it about twice a week. Their hair should be very soft after their usual bath.

You may also wish to massage their bodies with oil, but that is a whole other subject I will be covering on my other blog later on www.skinoholics.blogspot.com

Live Clean & Other Organic Products---> Natural & Effective

I am a fan of live clean products. Their shampoos are the bomb, and their masks are fantastic. Recently, though, I have come across some great baby products from them and I am amazed. The gently baby wash and shampoo is fantastic and organic at the same time. Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo does not compare not even by an inch! Their products are laden with harmful chemicals, but live clean is naturally effective without the use of harsh chemicals.  Nature's Baby Organics is also a great baby brand and worth every penny.

Here are some baby hair staples that every mommy should own.

2 Day Organic Hair Detox Challenge! Prepare a Detox Cream for Shinier, Stronger Hair

2 Day Organic Hair Detox Cream for all Ethnicities and Hair Types

Hello hairoholics!

Today I bring you a super easy challenge that will transform your hair in just 2 days. The detox cream is suitable for all hair types even mixed ladies, it is also all organic and the ingredients are easy to find in your health food or whole foods market. Make sure that you start the detox when you know that you will be free to walk around with masked hair (on a Friday for example) and since it is for 2 days you won't be able to go anywhere, but all in the name of healthier hair! This whipped cream will make your hair extremely soft, shiny, and strong in 3 easy steps.

Step 1 will help you prepare your hair, Step 2 will help you prepare and store the detox for further use, Step 3 will ensure that your scalp properly detoxes and your hair receives all of the benefits.

STEP 1: Preparing your hair for the detox:

* Make sure to shampoo your hair with a deep clarifying shampoo (your hair will be dry but do not worry, your scalp is cleansed and ready).

* Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb when it is damp

* Do not apply any hair serums/oils/leave in conditioners/ or styling products

* Let your hair air-dry after combing it.

STEP 2: The detox preparation:

Ingredients for the Detox Cream:

3 tbsp. of shea butter
 2 tbsp. of coconut oil
2 tbsp. of almond oil
1 tbsp. olive oil
Half a dropper ( or approximately half a tbsp.) of argan oil

*Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl and use an electrical mixer on HIGH for 10 minutes then it is complete. Store your detox in a jar or a plastic container if you want to use it again, make sure to refrigerate it so it doesn't spoil earlier than it is supposed to. The detox will spoil after  approximately one week so make sure to use it.*

STEP 3: Applying the Detox Cream & leaving it in:

* Comb your hair once more. Get all the tangled and mattes out.

* Apply the cream onto your hair and scalp, massage as you go.

* After your hair is all "creamed" twist your hair into a high bun.

* Place a hot towel around your hair for 15 minutes (you will repeat this for each day)

* To ensure your pillow case does not get oily, place a large puffy towel over it.

After you complete the 2 day detox, wash your hair out with a mild shampoo and follow up with a deep conditioner (leave it in for a minimum of 5 minutes). Comb your hair with a wide toothed comb and style/care for as usual.

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR RESULTS :)

Please leave a comment below and tell me how everything turned out for you. Is your hair in better condition? Is it stronger and more resilient? If you haven't tried the detox I would strongly recommend you to give it a shot, you have nothing to lose.
